This past Saturday the UConn Men traveled to Boston, MA for the largest regatta in the world, the Head of the Charles Regatta. From a top-half placement in last year’s regatta the Men earned an automatic bid in this year’s regatta in the Men’s Collegiate 4+ event.
This year the Huskies placed 7th out of 46 entries! The 4+ beat the likes of the University of Michigan, University of Delaware, Boston College, and Harvard University’s time in the comparable Club 4+ event the same day. This finish is the best performance UConn has placed in the regatta and earned the team an automatic entry in next year’s HOCR!
The boat was rowed by Colm O Riada (stroke), Conner Gavin (3 seat), Matthew Kessenich (2 seat), and Philip Hallwood (bow), coxed by Jake Belanger.
Next up, the Men’s Team travels to Saratoga Springs on October 31st for the 29th Annual Head of the Fish Regatta. There the UConn Men will race a Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+, two Varsity 4+s, three Novice 8+s, and a Novice 4+. Come out and support your Huskies at their last regatta of the season!
