This past Saturday, the UConn Men’s Crew Team returned from their annual spring training trip to Camp Bob Cooper in Summerton, South Carolina. Arriving on March 10th, the Huskies hit the ground running and transitioned back to rowing on the water after a long winter spent on the ergs. Time was well spent, with 3+ training sessions a day in beautiful South Carolina weather.
A hard week of training was capped off with scrimmaging against fellow Camp Bob Cooper attendees: University of Minnesota, Lehigh University, Susquehanna University, Carnegie Mellon, and Bowdoin College.
The 1V8 placed third, followed by second and third place finishes by the 2V8 and 3V8 in their respective heats. The Lightweight 4 battled their way to a second place finish, falling only to Minnesota. The Huskies carry this momentum into the spring season as they prepare for their upcoming race against Amherst College and Fairfield University on Saturday, March 24th.
