The University of Connecticut Men’s Crew was established in 1984, receiving its first national ranking in May 2004.
UCMC competes at the Varsity level against prominent collegiate crews across the East Coast and launches our racing shells from Patriot’s Park at Coventry Lake, located just ten minutes from the UConn Storrs Campus. With water practices focusing primarily on technique, power application, and teamwork, athletes gain the physical edge from cross-training, weight circuits and ergometer training via land practices. As of Winter 2017, UCMC established an on-campus Erg Room and Winter Training Center in the Ratcliff-Hicks Arena at Storrs. With over 25 ergs and a plethora of cross-training equipment, we stay competitive through the off-season by having regular team practices.
We have implemented a full integration between our Novices and Varsity squads for Winter Training and the Spring Season. Our team has seen exceptional growth over the years, with Varsity, Novice, and Alumni rowers and coxswains creating a network of close friends, hardworking students, and succesful professionals.
