Connecticut Secures Two Podium Finishes at Head of the Housatonic

On Saturday October 12, UConn Men’s Crew traveled to Derby, CT to race on the Housatonic River.

Connecticut entered three boats into the Collegiate Men 8+ event, finishing fourth, ninth, and tenth respectively. Additionally, 8 rowers and two coxswains from the Varsity squad double raced in the Collegiate Men 4+ event. Connecticut’s A boat clutched a third place finish, just seconds behind Fordham University and Wentworth Institute of Technology. The B boat secured an eighth place finish.

The Housatonic was the first race of the season featuring the entire Novice Squad. Connecticut’s A boat finished behind West Point and Coast Guard, securing third. The B boat achieved a sixth place finish.

The team looks to carry this momentum towards the biggest regatta of the fall season, Head of the Charles. The Huskies will be sending a Varsity 8+ to Boston to race in the Men’s Collegiate 8.

The race begins at 2:32, and the live-stream can be found here: https://www.hocr.org/the-regatta/livestreams/
